Rowan tincture
Rowanberries in Latvia grow both in gardens and in wild. Although the garden berries surprise with their intense color and their different variations, the berries of wild mountain ash are much bitterer in taste. That’s why we use wild berries from vicinity of Gauja National Park. Usually the first ones begin to turn red in the end of August, but ripen in mid-September. This is the right time to make rowan wine.
In the base of rowan tincture is the happy apple Ferryman, to which are added in the National Park of Gauja harvested rowan berries. For taste there is added little bit sugar. In 6 month time berries give their power to this drink: sunset colour, bitter, juicy taste and autumn’s gorgeous aroma. Alcohol content in the drink 40%. Rowanberry tincture is good both for making cocktails and for game (wild meat).
From rowanberries we also produce semi – sweet wine.
