Description

Dry hawthorn wine

In Latvia, hawthorns are rare in the wild, they can be found mainly in parks and gardens as ornamental plants or near private houses, where they are popular for hedges. White flowers bloom in late May or early June. The pink, round or elongated fruits ripen in late August or September. They are floury, sweet with small stones.

Hawthorns are harvested in the Gauja National Park. Wine fermented and naturally settled for about 12 months. It goes well with fish dishes and cheese. Recommend to use chilled +14˚C. Contains sulphites. This unusual wine is popular with artists and gourmets.
Every year, Līgatne Winery participates in the Latvian berry and fruit wine competition, as well as the Baltic Cup, where hawthorn wine has been awarded several times for its quality.

We offer other dry wines: raspberry mixed with blackcurrants, red currant, rhubarb.
